Subject: Rear window washer line problem

88 Vanagon Camper - In preparing for our first camping trip of the season last week, when I opened up the rear hatch, I noticed that the small plastic tube that conveys the WW fluid from the body to the rear hatch had snapped in two.

Normally (or originally) the tubing and the wires to run the rear wiper are enclosed in a little flexible sleeve - this sleeve has crumbled over the years - rear wiper still works though.

So my question - Since the tubing seems pretty brittle and I don't think it's under much pressure anyway, could I get away with just mending is with some heat shrinkable tubing to connect the two ends? If the joint leaked a little it shouldn't matter as it would be in the 'outside channel' around the rear hatch.

Are there any members who've made a simple repair in other ways that I should consider?

Thanks,

John Graham 88 Westy Charlotte, NC
