The subject line needed some updating...

Even though this fuel hose issue gets flogged to death both here and on the Samba, the last three Vanagons I've worked on ALL still had the original fuel hoses and this plastic fitting.

If you don't know, don't drive your van until you do.

Ben a great "how to" on his web site plus a few gruesome photos. http://www.benplace.com/fuel_line.htm

I won't let Vanagons that have not been updated or have had their fuel systems disabled sit in my shop unattended or over night. I also disconnect the battery on any vehicle that sits in my shop overnight.

Campfire = good... Vanfire = very very bad.

Roger,

Some call that plastic peice "The Fire Starter" - so please do replace it when you can. I replaced mine with some barber copper plumbing peices from HomeDepot - sorry I don't remember the exact size.

That way you never have to worry about it breaking and spraying fuel on you rhot engine and exhaust.
