Couple of things that can make shipping cheap is a flexible schedule (yours) and shipping in an open truck. If you tell the shipper that you want to take advantage of their schedule vs. your schedule, they will quote you a cheaper price. Most shippers use trucks that are not going straight through to where you are going so they drop cars off and have other trucks nearby pick them up - usually a few days later. They all swear that they don't do this but they do. If your vehicle can sit for a few days or a week in a transfer lot, it might save you money. Open carriers vs. enclosed are also cheaper. You might even consider a really small outfit or just a single guy with a truck, too. I moved a new car from So Cal to Nor Cal with a retired couple and a trailer. They did contract work for dealerships delivering cars up and down the state. Nice people and they were bonded and insured. Its not the fastest way so I don't know if that matters.
