If your engine and its dynamic oil pressure monitoring system are both stock, you have two pressure sensors, located in the two places referenced. Now, why does a vehicle need two oil pressure sensors? I do know they each signal at different pressures, so you know if you have low pressure at idle, and also know if you have low pressure at speed (or know that you have adequate pressure). But stock, both connect to the light.

Sometimes people who install a gauge disable the light, and remove one of the sensors, keeping the one easiest to access. But if your light works, this hasn't happened, unless the person found a way to operate the light with only one sensor present.

Though I have a gauge, to me, having the light work is a fail-safe mechanism, as it will get one's attention for sure. So, previous owner had disabled the light and kept only one sensor. I've everything set up with both sensors again, so both gauge and light work. Like it better that way.

At least that's how I understand it.
