I have the same issue about remembering which vans I have a spray key hidden on.

on the ones that I do have a spare key hidden on, I paste a round colored 'dot' ...... the sticky-backed kind you'd buy in an office supply or art store.

that way, once glance at the foot well where I put those dots tells me I have a spare key hidden on that particular van.

After hours of telling myself that the key was in an obvious place and that the situation would be solved with a simple approach, I decided to look in my usual hiding spot for the spare key, in the under-carriage. Incredibly (or not,) there was the spare! Of course I have no recollection of doing this. This is a relatively 'new to me' van and when you have several, you go through moments wondering, 'now did I install a new ignition switch in Fritz or Baby?' Now I am resolved to writing everything down and keeping records.........where the hell did I put my glasses? Miguel
