I keep such a log on all vanagons and others as well. It's just a word file. If there is an issue, a repair, an upgrade, a problem, I record the date and the mileage. I go back and add comments as to whether something worked or not.

This provides me with an invaluable history, like a patient record, to diagnose problems with. I can "look back" and see what symptoms I might not remember led up to a problem. I can tell how long everything lasts (with multiple vanagons in my life, it's hard to say which one got what when).

I also know when my camper upgrades were installed.

Anyway, it started way back when I began doing my own work on my 90, and I've been doing it ever since. I also have a ring binder on each car (and sometimes on a particular engine) so I can keep every receipt for every part and service.
