Unfortunately, a couple of millimeters doesn't cut it. I have to roll the window down about an inch to get a nice easy close when shutting the door.

nothing insecure there. Have the window couple of millimeters open and the deflectors prevent rain coming in. The deflectors are not glued on but actually sit in the window frame.
