I just opened up the back of my 89 vanagon gl to find the rear cushion is wet on the bottom as well as the carpet pad over the engine lid.

We have had lots of rain recently.

How is the water getting into the top area of the engine lid? soaking the carpet and pad?

The van is a solid roof gl with no sunroof or pop top. Rear hatch gasket seems to be fine

how could the rear d pillar windows allow water to get to the engine lid area?

tree leaf crap clogged up in gutter over hatch..leaking down thru seal inside...??
