Hi Jim,

I swapped the cover plate and both gears from one block to the other. All the gears from the three engines looked basically identical to me at the time, except for the wear on the face. The cover plate was installed with a fresh gasket.

Will check pressure in the morning, and if it has to come apart then I guess it will. Sure would be good to know what I did wrong; though it would be better to find out it's an easy fix...
