As winters chill starts to lift here in upstate NY,
But in only 6weeks a motley crew of NY (and other points northeast) VWs will be participating in one of the longest VW camping events.
VW Sunshine Skyway Treffen 2010 April 23rd thru May 9th
We have 12+ VW campers & families from Central NY signed up and making bookings, with some from other areas either signed up or on the fence.
Some will meet us part way, others from clubs along the way. Taking the route less interstate, about 200 miles each day with stops in some of the most scenic beaches, historical landmarks and national parks. There is still plenty of room and time to get on board, but after the New Year parks will begin to be booked full for our dates in April/may 2010. This is a loosely formatted VW adventure, more of a Driving rally then a parade or caravan. the only constant is each days destination.
truly a make it your way kind of adventure, participants are encouraged to set their own pace, and see as much along the way as possible. with each day broken into ~200mile driving days, in a southerly linear fashion, it takes the rush out of the long route from NY to FL.
Even if you're not planning to join into the Sunshine Skyway VW Treffen, toss me an Email if you're nearby on one of our days.

With stops planned at the Wright Bros monument, 2 NC Aquariums, Brookgreen Gardens and well who knows just what or where along the route.

Nightly stays at camps along the eastern seaboard.
Assateague National seashore, Outer banks, Carolina beach, Edisto beach, Jekyll Island, Manatee Springs, Fort De Soto, Fort Wilderness @ Walt Disney World, Gettysburg national battlefield (anyone have input in Gettysburg campgrounds?)

VW Wild 4 life weekend.
Friday is an open house and street party/BBQ at Classic Camber free food & live band
Saturday is a huge 2 part VW show on the St Petersburg Pier and Beach
Sunday is a 250+ VW cruise over the Sunshine Skyway bridge. And informal VW gathering/show @ Boyd Hill preserve
