I'll third that notion... have used this (or perhaps its predecessor) for 20+ years with minimal difficulty. About once every few years that chain from the cable to the throttle (sort of like a fat keychain about 9 links long) breaks. Have never figured out how to prevent this so I just carry a long length and cut a replacement as needed.

Perhaps the newer ones do not rely on such a chain, in any case no big deal.

I do not use a vacuum canister just because it has always worked well w/o one -- YMMV.
