I just tried a similar experiment. I have four ECUs, three from Syncros (86, 86, 87,) and one from an 89 2wd GL. They all worked when installed in my 88 Westy and 87 Syncro. A local had a condition where if you tapped on his ECU, the engine died, so we tried all four of mine and NO go. Put in a GoWesty ECU and Vrooom.........so you never know. I guess I could think this to death and come up with a couple of likely reasons, but the bottom line here is to let you know that your experiment might demonstrate results that reflect instant logic and gratification. I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. - Thomas A. Edison
