I recommend the stronger ones on both sides. They will last just about forever and are not too hard to push down. I sell the OEM Boge/Stabilus ones for $19.95 each.

The original configuration would have a weaker one on the left. This configuration tend to fail more quickly, and unless you have very little upper body strength is really not necessary. But if you want to go that way, you would get the above one for the right and this one for the left:

The aftermarket versiona are all over the place both in quality and in pressure, and are roughly the same price. Maybe you'll get lucky, maybe you won't. I've seen some last a long time, and others either blow out entirely or fail to keep the hatch up wihout sagging after a short period of time (or in colder weather).
