"suspended particles " ?

like what ? Dirt .? ..............yes, want dirt out of there.

greases and oils work by keeping the metal parts from actually touching each other. It wears out or goes away , or evaporates. .. need to replenish it now and then.

yes, will be interesting to see what some lock experts say ..

but having lubed locks of all sorts for about 40 years, I( more than that actually ) have an idea what works for me. - and that's lube all mechanisms that move !

with minor exceptions here and there , or need to be sensitive about what some things can take. but mostly ...if it moves, lube it.

--snip-- I have never believed that old 'never lube a lock thing' ! --snip--

Seems to me that if you're using a spray lube and make it part of your regular maintenance, you'd mostly drive any suspended particles out of the mechanism each time. Wonder what our "list locksmith" Steve thinks about this...? Isn't Bange a locksmith too?

Fellas?
