Just because a Vanagon is made of steel does not mean all things made of steel is an appropriate subject on the List. For example, a discussion about swords/guns are not acceptable here even though those items might have the same materials as a Vanagon body.

If you read any part of the thread, you might find that it had no direct relationship or reference to the use of a potentiometer or similar device for use in a Vanagon besides the subjectline. BTW, the more acceptable term is drive-by-wire unless your Vanagon is equipped with wings capable of lift. ;-)

It would be a different story if the postings said something like, "I think Vanagon engine conversions which use a drive-by-wire systems are a potential safety hazard (or non-hazard as the case may be)." That would be the type of discussion considered acceptable.

At any rate, next time you have an objection to what a moderator had to say, please contact either David or myself via pmail. We do not have any issues making a retraction if a decision we've made is incorrect. Broadcasting your objection to the List to re-open a close topic is less than appropriate.
