I keep a small book in my glovebox where I write down gas, mileage, oil changes, tune-ups etc. Receipts are kept in a binder in the house with other important documents on the vehicle like emissions reports, licensing documents from previous years and any other paperwork.

About a year ago, I also started keeping records in an iPhone app. It's very cool - it will track data on how many mpg the van averages between each fill up, remind of me when the next oil change is due and all kinds of cool stuff like that. It's one of the few paid apps I actually bought! But I love it!

Additionally, I have a Backpack account where I keep other data - notes about ideas for things like cup holders, stereo upgrades I might do and whatever else doesn't fit in the log book or the app. That's very handy. I also keep links to resources like the Van Cafe, other Vanagon owners' websites/blogs and miscellaneous stuff like that in Backpack.

(Yes, I am geek. LOL)
