I've used B-Quiet in my Westy, going so far as to remove the camper interior and covering everything below the windows from the front seats to the hatch, and inside the passenger door so far.  It certainly damps the resonance in a bare metal panel, something easily demonstrated by thumping the done vs. the undone parts of the body.  The Westy has that noisy poptop and opening that can't be covered, so I'm sure some of the benefit is lost.  Check for the "sound deadener" threads in Vanagon the forum on thesamba.com.  Lots of info and discussion there.

I've also heard of people opting for a cheaper roofing material of similar construction. I'm wary of using materials specifically rated for non-occupied spaces inside enclosed spaces. Offgassing is a nasty business.
