That makes sense Jake. Pretty sure both your Vanagons have the larger ID on tank outlet. Plus you wouldn't be prone to using a zap strap. <grin> No dis to person that did this. :) Kinda hijacked this thread a little mentioning two somewhat separate issues in one breath. Re Miguels comment on pump cooling: 1. Higher ambient temps seem to contribute to making my FP cavitate more. (buzzing sound but not as loud as Arborite + trimmer) Re stock FP mount bracket 2. Mine is stock ('81) If pump not cavitating, (making buzzing sound) pump sounds normal. (*quiet* whirring) Of note, my Jetta engine is quieter at idle than air cooled was so the normal whirring is likley easier to hear. Pump is near new. I suggested the DV Bosal exhaust mount (along with some kind of bracket), as a possible solution to zap strap, rope or duct tape. <grin> Neil.
