They always shift in one of two direct movements, selecting the next gear in the sequence as long as you move the shift lever one way...if you move it back the other way, the gear selection goes the other 'direction' also. So, one tap down get you first, then you lift the lever for 2nd, lift again for 3rd, etc etc..and when you want to go back down you tap down on the lever..no shift "Pattern" at all. Many racecars have this system. The really fancy ones have a computer to 'blip the throttle" and match revs for the driver....hey...an automatic! Slightly different than a production street automatic..but that Triptronic is coming very close now.. Don Hanson |
