Recent posts are discussing the replacing of interior panels. Some are asking what is a good material? One of my buddies built a very nice Baja Bug Pre-runner a while back and did the doors and rear seat panels with anodized alumimum. After cutting and fitting the aluminum sheet stock (He used alu about 1/16" thick)...he had it anodized (Portland, Or.) in a matching red. It looked very clean and was quite durable day to day...just wipe smudges off and no worries about ripping a cloth covered panel. One could use a powder coat also, I guess, though anodizing is more scratch resistant. Don Hanson |
