One unspoken connection maybe your culprit. You would have take the instrument cluster out and check it. Check the surfaces of connections where the long connector attaches at onto the instrument cluster. I have seen them heavily green with corrosion. The 20 odd years of oxydation build up has made it useless to deliver electricity. It can affect any of the lights or gauges on the cluster. All the electricals are delivered through that connection. I have seen this a few times. Zoltan

I would start by checking for voltage at the lLED. I know that the LED is not likely to fail but it should be checked just the same.?If there is no voltage at the LED then check the sending unit. There are very detailed instructions on testing the system under the Dynamic oil pressure warning system section of the Bentley. ? David Clarkson 90 Westfalia

85 vanagon has no oil light at all even at key on. Would a bad sender stop the light on check. Too cold and wet here to mess with the sender now. Any suggestions thanks mike
