re radius arm changes Nov. '84, but newer style brakes from '86+. Have a look around the archives. I can't recall, but it *may be that the newer front brakes AND radius arm started at the changover in '85.*

on the * to * part ..nope.

the newer type brakes start in 86 models. there are 'two kinds' of 85's... early ones and later ones. the early ones have some 84 parts on them... namely metal coolant pipes, the older style weak parking brake handle, and the stamped lower control arms with associaed parts in the fronts suspension.

at some point in 85 production they change that to plastic coolant pipes, the better parking brake handle... and the cast lower front control amrs, with assoicated parts.

I have seen a bit of mixing too.....some later ones have one or two of those changes, but not all three.

I have never seen the newer brakes on any 85, only 86 and up.

they got the sliding door improved nicely in 85 though .. and all 85's I have ever seen have the later style sliding door.

for 86 they put in a much superior fuse box ... but put on the rectangular head lamps. .... a step backwards in turns out, these days.

85 is a really good year. the only thing I could wish for is the later better style fuse box and wiring.

oh, one other thing ... 85 Westy's and Weekenders need their front springs changed to not-so-tall ones. I have an early 85 Westy GL here ... it's like 2 inches too tall in the front. Fixing that right away !
