Another thing that bothers me is whether he's saying all that about putting the kids first, etc to lure you into thinking this is a decent person that you could expect to be ethical, etc. I hate to even think that, but it's very common in a scam to attempt to defuse suspicion through reference to something that will make the potential scam-ee consider you trustworthy.
