You misunderstood me. I do not plan on insulating the pump - I thought about
installing a small strip of FatMat between the part of the bracket that
mounts to the frame and the frame itself. So nothing will be touching the
pump itself.


As for the noise - well I've never ever had a Vanagon where I couldn't hear
the fuel pump at all. Granted this one is particularly loud - partially due
to the mounting situation.


It may very well be there are tank issues - I know it needs a reseal and
that is on my list.
