My first thought was "will the chips mess with seating/removing the outer bearing race".

If it were me, I'd see/feel if any high spots where the largest metal chip is and deal with that. Likely with judicious use of a scraper. Then I'd carefully "smooth out" that corner all the way 'round. (fine emery cloth?) Looks to me like some of those imperfections *might* make it a little tough to get bearing race started and pressed in.

As far as the seal goes, seems to me there's lot's of meat there for it to do its job. But that's a somewhat educated guess.
