the H pattern can seem ok but you could be shifting into 3rd and 4th in both locations. i had this happen on a customers van that had some worn shifter parts. i rotated the shifter shaft on the splines one spline over. these are the splines on the shifter shaft near the u-joint where the forward shaft meets the rear shaft. one spline at a time. one spline makes a big difference. make a mark for reference. i just use a scribe to scratch the valley in between splines.
