The more we find out the more we're seeing that there is a rather substantial problem of late with poorly rebuilt torque converters in vanagonland(and one of the very first symptoms to pop up is a leaking TC seal). The upshot of having publicized it was a lot of people we never would have heard from otherwise came forward from all over the country and contacted us(which we really appreciate and encourage) with identical failures and stories but different engines. We've now collected information on failed converters from several of the same vendors, across engines(wbx, tiico, gowesty). I'm still compiling the info, and I still have to talk to a couple more vendors that buy/install rebuilt transmissions/converters, but I've already spoken with enough trusted and well known folks to have a pretty good handle on it. I think we've ID'd two high failure rate converter companies to stay away from, but I'm not ready to release what I've found until I'm really certain and convinced it makes sense to do so, since it will materially affect the business of these places. In the meantime though Scott, I'd appreciate, and I'm sure the other guys here at Bostig would appreciate a bit more accuracy and care in your statements to the list about the nature of problems you are representing for us.

Thanks,

Jim Akiba
