isn't there a fairly flush 'scerw' on the thottle body ? a round 'thing' with screw driver slot in it, almost the size of a dime ? if it's like I'm thinking...it points right at you as you are standing at the rear bumper looking at the engine, right on the throttle body. It's a 'air bypass' screw, not a mechanical adjustment on the throttle lever or anything like that. out, ( counterrclockwise ) is 'more' ...faster idle. clickwise ( in ) is less air, slower idle. it's a fairly non-technical adjustment ...in other words , changing it won't mess anything up badly. If it doesn't respond to turning that screw ...there are other issues going on. there's a decent picture of it on the left side of page 24.10 in the Bentley manual. arrow in the pic points right to the screw I'm discribing above. have fun ! love your vanaogn. scott www.turbovans.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Samantha" <yfsami@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, March 22, 2010 12:32 PM Subject: Adjusting the idle on '82 AC Vanagon
