I once read the army spec for fruitcake, and I'll tell you, it didn't leave much to chance, including how many pieces to cut it into to make sure it met the spec. But typically it includes a much wider temperature range for operation, and takes into account that someone may drive a truck over it and/or bury it in mud for a week or maybe hit it with a big EMP or whatever. Around the time that 56k bps modems were coming in I saw an ad for I-forget-who's milspec modem. It was about the size of a kid's lunchbox, painted green of course, and would do all kinds of nice stuff at any speed you wanted up to 300 baud. They didn't mention the price. Yours, David |
