They use Oetiker clamps because they work & work well.

I think the reason the spring loaded clamps are preferred is that as the fuel tubing ages and hardens like some of us the spring tension maintains enough pressure to keep the sealing pressure above the blooie point.

But then it may be just a ploy to sell the special hog-clip pliers to put the critters on with,
