hey Karl Have you checked into the head gasket problems and cracked blocks subies have been having? ever wonder about that subie coolant threatment that their techs call head gasket in a bottle??? How about it being an interference motor if the timing belt or any of the idlers stop?How about the cost of the timing belt,H2O pump, seals job on that 2.5L? Now the old 2.2L was a better engine, as long as you don't mind oil leaks :) I used the 1.8L I4 jetta motor myself and so far I am happy with it, power is good gas mileage is OK but not great, motor is just about bullet proof, I also kept the Vannie control system intact. . later mark d
