Subject: '84 sliding door cable question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

'84 Westy Wolfy

I closed my sliding door, and apparently that's all it took.

When I tried to use the door handle again, there was no resistance, and the door would not open. I have removed the interior panel and opened the door manually. The cable is detached at the rear. The cable simply ends about 3 cm from the end of the sheath. My question: do I simply loosen a screw, slide the cable in and retighten, or; is there supposed to be an eyelet crimped onto the rear end of that cable? In the book, it looks like a permanent eyelet or ring attached to the end of the cable.

If there is supposed to be a permanent ring on the end, that means I need a replacement cable. I'm in southern Oregon now, will be going to Tri-Cities Washington for the weekend, then back south, then up to Portland next week. If anybody along that route has one for sale, send me a note, please!

Matt
