Simple Green is the answer for everything. Spray it on full strength, let sit 10,15,20 or so minutes and hose off. Even better, agitate with a brush before rinsing.

I seek list wisdom on cleaning the oily residue off of the items that have been sprayed with hot ATF. I especially would like to prevent damage to the hoses, thermostat housing, wiring harnesses in that area. Should I even clean it? If so with what? I was thinking maybe some purple degreaser cleaner in some dilution, mop it around with a brush and rinse with hot water?

Edward
