Had a friend who was co-driving the Baja 1000. He was way out in the Baja Remote, waiting at their pit to take over as the driver when a gust of wind grabbed up their EZup. He latched onto it to save it and was transported right into a huge Cholla-patch. Cholla ( also called Prickley-Pear ) is THE worst species of catctus--very tenacious and painful.....He was covered in the stuff, but was expecting their racecar at any time so he underwent about an hour of Cholla extraction without any painkillers (even Cerveza Pacifico) in order to be able to get in the car and drive un-drugged for his 4-5 hr stint. He opined that that was his most painful ever interlude.

Vanagon content: He and his family camped near us for several winters in Baja in a Vanagon with a Mazda engine transplant. They also towed a very well-built Baja Bug along, from Portland to La Paz and back every winter..
