My old '82 didn't have a bleeder at the valve, but you're right about the rusted up part - I ended up replaced both solid lines when I decided to replace the flex lines at each rear wheel, and couldn't get them apart without damaging the steel lines. There was a lot of swearing when I had to remove the inner ends of those steel lines at the valve, and there was no way they were coming off without damage! The is a job best done next time you have the tranny out - it's tight in there...
