Jim,

While I have a Garmin, my parents have a TomTom that they've asked me to help them with (today's version of programming the VCR?). It's not bad, but it's just not as intuitive to use as the Garmin.

Just my opinion.

Maybe I'm just different... not to be contrary, I'd actually like to know why not use a TomTom and why the bigger one is better?

I use an old small TomTom at least once a week to find someplace I have never been in my state, and have never had a problem to speak of. I think they all have some shortcoming or another, but why bash TomTom?

The small one is easy to carry and stows in the side pocket when I leave the car (RE the earlier comment to not leave the mount in sight to advertise there's a navigator on board).
