no problem replacing the shear-off conical head bolts with regular bolts. I believe they are only anti theft devices, not a safety feature. That being said, I did replace with hex head bolts the times i removed dash, but also bought new shear off bolts from dealer (speedway in victoria). the fancy bolts are still sitting unused in my parts collection.
