Blocking the ports is a great idea. Dump some oil down the spark plug holes or the intake ports. Try to store it on a pallet or wood blocks if any chance of flooding. Some people will go so far as to put the whole engine in a heavy garbage/leaf bag and fog the motor with WD40 or other lubricant inside and out. If you have the fuel system installed, especially the injectors, you should run some fuel stabilizer through to keep the injectors from seizing.

I just pulled the engine out of my wrecked van and I was wondering if anybody had any advice for long-term storage.  For now I just blocked off all the ports and put the engine in my shed. Thanks - Steve
