Danny
You came to same concussion I did years back. A freind in Seattle took his
Bostig Ztech to Alaska in 2009. Had problems. But managed to get it fixed
there. But than had to get fix repaired when he got back to Seattle. For my
87 I checked out a VW mailny hot rod shop located in Portland OR. For $5000
he would rebuild mine using his knowledge of hot rodding VW bugs and up.
Porsche connecting rods, chevy pistons, etc. I asked for just a bit more HP
and lots of depenability. Never happened has I sold it and got my 91 Multi
Van. Not sure if that Portland build would meet CA Smog these days. Which I
am considering going your route. Let me know how yours goes

Subject: GoWesty 2.4 L Engine
I have been wanting to upgrade my 1.9L engine in my westy now for the last
year or so. I have looked at all sorts of conversion. At first I was going
to go with the Bostig Ztech conversion (the price is right and I liked the
thought of a bolt on turbo). I was also thinking about doing a Subaru 2.5L
engine. I have been seeing all this stuff on conversions and leaky torque
converter seals. I have an auto tranny and have had that seal go out before.
I decided to go ahead today and buy the GoWesty 2.4L. The VW shop I will be
using to install it is going to pull my 1.9 and keep it complete turn key
ready to go. They will be building my 2.4L long block with all new exhaust
and and wire harness off of a 2.1. I like the idea of having a vw motor in
my van. It would suck to be in some other state on a trip and have engine or
transmission failure and have to find some one who is capable of working on
my conversion set-up if I went that route. The 2.4L
GoWesty engine has 115hp and 160 ft pounds of torque. That will be 35hp
more than my stock 1.9L and 55 more ft pounds of torque. That should be a
very noticeable difference. Does anyone out there have the 2.4 GoWesty
engine? If so can you e-mail me back the pros and cons??? Thanks
