It was in the Pinyon Mountain area, but it was the Mine Wash road (off 78), headed south toward the Indian "Village Site." According to the map, the road dead ends, but we only took at as far as the Village Site. We liked that area. Do you recommend the Pinyon Mt Road drive? Looks like it goes all the way through to the east end of the park.
