I shipped my 2.1 core to Boston Bob from Little Rock back in 2001 for like $100 using a truck line andthey usually go in increments of 100 pounds, not individual pounds like UPS. I've also had luck shipping trannies via Fedex freight(need to find a hub near you, I drove 35 miles to ship mine). Find a pallet yard and buy/beg/ one and build a OSB board box for the motor and strap it down good. Having a solid lid on it allows the freight line to stack something else on top of it that's also on a 40x48" pallet. Much cheaper to have the flexibility of where they put the pallet than having to only top load it INHO.
