Yes, but be careful with a full tank ! that is a lot of weight. may be your only option, though so use blocks, jack or something below for safety. David is correct, its probably not your gauge. most likely is electrical contacts between the two parts. I recommend cleaning every electrical contact you can get your hands on, it will make a world of difference. use lots of dielectric grease, too. I moved the ground lug for the tank sender on mine to a spot I could maintain better.
