The few pics I have seen of used disassembled vc also show a grey colour opaque fluid. The German site I originally posted does sell replacement seals, but they seem pretty pricey, and I wonder if the mark up is just as high as the siloxane fluid :) Come on Mark, buy some of the cheap fluid, take one of your units apart, clean it out, measure internal volume, refill with fluid with correct air amount, then test on lathe :) alistair
