Thanks. I bet part of the rebuild process includes using used plates w/good burrs. But who knows. Maybe they can rehab plates with poor/missing burrs.

Looking at the FAQ's on Vanagon page, I see that heat causes fluid to thicken. From that page: "VW says this happens as quickly as 1/4 turn of the spinning rear tire." I bet the burrs are like little paddles. w/o them would fluid not heat up as quickly?

Interesting stuff. I doubt I'll ever own a Syncro, but they are cool IMO
