that statement is wrong, and has perpetuated a misconception. One of VW's own docs says same, but research paper (linked on my site, written by an Audi/vw engineer) shows that the siloxane's viscosity does not increase with temp.

its a shear thickening fluid, the shear is what does it, temp rise a by product.

also, mohan (paper on my blog too) shows that smooth plates in a lab set up works just as well.

the burrs might be involved at the hump stage (STA), but it has not been explained
