Before you start dumping in cans of freon, find out where the leak is.
AC is a closed system, the charge does not wear out or get consumed. The
only way to loose it is to have a leak. The stuff you put in this year
will be gone next year (or sooner) if you don't fined the leak. Usually,
it's an o-ring in a coupling, but not always. I'd take it back to
whoever "fixed" it last year and make them fix it again, as this should
not happen in just a year on a properly repaired system (that said my
wife's 350,000+ mile Grand Cherokee had the same problem and we were
never able to get it repaired properly, but the first year after the
major overhaul, when it leaked down within a year, the shop did do the
follow up repairs for a significantly reduced rate and did replace some
of the seals/o-rings they had replaced the year before, for free).
Anyway the point is this isn't like the cooling system that can overflow
and loose coolant or the engine oil which can be consumed, freon in your
AC should be permanent.
