I forget or missed what engine the poster has, 1.9 or 2.1 in any case.. the OP switch micheal mentions is only one of the two oil pressure swathes on a 2.1 waterboxer engine.

about frayed or loose wire .. it depends on which oil pressure switch you are talking about. If it's the 'normal' low pressure one ... that wire falling off will keep the OP light from coming on at all.

in the case of the high pressure switch by the crank pulley on a 2.1 ...that wire being off will make the oil light and buzzer go off for sure. If it's a 2.1....the oil warning system needs to see ground through that high rpm OP switch at higher rpm's, or the buzzer/light goes off.
