Hi,

yup, door panels cut at bottom, you know at that curved down part of door. Behind is an opening in door frame that can take a speaker, how big down there without trimming door metal I don't know.

Up at stock speaker location, the stock perf. plastic screen is retained and the tweeter mounted behind it. My hearing is not what it used to be, but this combo sounds better than the 4" infinity speakers in stock location in my other van. Also, midrange speaker not blocked by dash when door closed, but it is down low...

dont forget you can get extended window winders to clear speaker grill. i got mine from junkyard, early '90's or so golf cabrio. I think there may be other sources, in archives for sure.

cheers

ab

Re: the speakers in foot of doors...I have no removed the panel yet, but did the door have to be cut for this? I have seen the tweeters mounted near dash and such, but I like the idea of using the stock mounting at top of door for them. Thanks. Michael in San Antonio 91GL AT 'Gringo' 73 Beetle
