That torn shifter boot may be allowing gear oil out. If so, maybe a
seal is going/gone at hole where shift lever is? I just bought a boot,
so likely still available. Not hard to replace. Bentley shows a "shift
shaft seal" behind boot. Don't know aboot that. ;)
Can't see how one could overfill a tranny when mounted, but could oil
at front end be from vent hole? (far fetched thought)
Oil at engine tranny join is odd. I see wet on starter too. Can you
sniff to see if gear or engine oil? (rear main seal)
Maybe make a white coat hanger piece into a dipstick to check level in
tranny? Keep an eye on it?
Why is drive shaft wet near boot? Gear oil leaking past into CV? That
flange isn't hard to get at. Never done it, but have seen it up close
a few times lately.
I guess it depends on how many miles you want to put on it in next few
years. If it were me, I'd drop that sucker and check things out. But
if it ain't *really* broke....
