One thing that works well for getting clogged up fuel systems cleaned is that Sta-bil fuel gas 'storage' stuff. Learned this from a VW Baja racer guy. Use it to keep the gas from going 'flat' in an unused vehicle and also if you have one with a clogged up system. It 'dissolves' a lot of the gummy stuff that gets into carb jets and injectors and other places. I just 're-fired' a late 80s Honda Hawk moto that was sitting for over 5 years since my last race...the carbs were all fouled up and it quit pretty quickly, so I put almost a full bottle of Sta-bil gas treatment in the tank..about 5 gal capacity..and cranked some into the fuel system with the starter..let it sit for a week and .Voila! She started up and ran fine..Changed out the "washer gas" and the filters and off she goes...I will probably do a couple of more filter changes.. I use a few ounces of that Sta-bil in my Van about ever couple of weeks just to keep things clean... Don Hanson |
